Good Morning Travelocity
Last night I got a call at 4am on my cell, unknown number. I picked up and was quickly rushed through some mumbling about a Travelocity booking I had done the day before.
"Do you know it's 4am here." -- "Yes but I need to confirm your booking" she replied with a hint of an indian accent. I asked why this had to be done right now, in the middle of the night.
"Because your name popped up on my screen."
So pretty much, "Hello, I'm calling from Travelocity, go %#$* yourself."
I pondered slamming the phone down for a second but decided to go along with it because I didn't want to risk losing the bookings and because I was half asleep and I'm surprisingly docile when groggy.
I answered the questions the best I could, credit card type, address, name of my bank and then "what's your bank's customer service number?" to which I replied that I didn't have that handy, it was 4 in the morning. "You can find it at the back of your credit card." I refused, she promptly jumped to a last question to which I replied only to be hung up on. Overall, a lovely experience.
I really don't know where they thought they were calling, it was late afternoon or evening in the US, middle of the night all over Europe and they had my country of residence in the booking anyway. I would have been totally fine with it if it had been a mistake but she was very clearly aware of the fact she had woken me up and wouldn't even consider delaying this process. So is this a Travelocity policy, an employee stuck in a process or simply someone being a bit of a jerk?
On the plus side, it did get me out of bed extra early on a Saturday morning.
